UK Market Expert

Montel is expanding and looking for a GB power market expert to join the team! We are looking for someone to compliment our current team of knowledgeable and motivated Power Market Experts. You will play a crucial role in developing our offering within GB and acting as a bridge between our software and sales and marketing teams as well as supporting our international customer base.

As an expert on the GB wholesale electricity market, candidates should have industry experience as a market participant, regulator, or regulated provider of services. We are seeking candidates who are eager to learn, looking for a role to enhance and share their industry knowledge, and explore new markets and customer segments.

A Typical Day Will Include

• The job involves learning the Montel Analytics product range and how it adds value to customers; being involved as a product expert and technical market guru to support the sales process. Your primary focus will be on the GB market.
• Providing support on the operation of markets to customers
• Keeping an eye on changes to the market and how they affect our customers and the software solutions we provide; and developing new product ideas.
• Monitoring the GB wholesale electricity market whilst keeping an eye on the interconnected European markets.
• Being able to serve as a teacher, trainer, or storyteller at one moment, and actively listening to customer feedback at another.
• Survey market opportunities for customers whilst also translating and documenting requirements from customer meetings.
• Posting social media content relating to your observations on the market, driving potential new subscribers to Montel Analytics.
• Speaking at Montel events and external events, demonstrating your market knowledge and maintaining Montel Analytics’ position as a thought leader in the industry.
• In this cross-functional role, candidates will help the sales and marketing in improving market access while guiding software development colleagues on meeting customer needs. · The potential to directly provide energy market consultancy services to clients, working on bespoke consultancy projects, depending on your prior experience.
• The potential to work with the modeling team to maintain and develop models for key market metrics, depending on your experience and aptitude.

What we are looking for

• Relevant experience in GB power market (minimum 3 years).
• Strong numerical skills in analysing and understanding data.
• Knowledge of regulatory regimes in GB and potentially European energy markets.
• Understanding of how traded energy markets work and the terminology and operational requirements to trade electricity in wholesale markets.
• Deep knowledge of the GB market and evidence that this knowledge can be extended to other markets as European markets become more integrated.
• Experience in either energy consultancy or other operating energy business.
• An aptitude for or direct experience in data modelling.
